Pioneering Pathways

When everything is saying NO, keep growing.
When I finally gathered the courage and clarity to pursue my Doctorate dream, I imagined a moment of great joy. Instead, I was met with the voices of others: You don’t need another degree. Why go back to school? That’s not an investment—it’s a sunk cost. Their doubts could have easily stopped me. Yet, I hold fast, I move forward.

Your path is your own.
Only you live with the result of your endeavors. So, despite the concerns, I carry with me words of encouragement and embark on this voyage of academic exploration. I care deeply about an industry that must be reimagined through the lens of entrepreneurship. Founders need systems and frameworks that support them in forging their own paths toward impact-driven ventures, and I feel called to contribute to that transformation.

Trusting the way forward.
Through my research, I know I can shape an alternative mindset for the fashion industry. I trust my mind and heart to lead me toward a new era, one that I will joyfully uncover with time. Pioneers did not walk the paths prepared for them; they went on quests of their own—searching with zeal, dedicating their lives to truths they had yet to find.

I have an extensive library I intend to read fully, but also have a great deal of required text that will guide my understanding of nonprofits, policymaking, social entrepreneurship and innovation.
On the left is my binder and right my notebook. I am huge stationary fan and have decided the theme color for my study materials and tools is a forest green and sage.
Here are some of books required for my foundations in Social Innovation course.
I am fortunate to have this beautiful George Peabody library where I will spend Thursdays reading and writing from in historic Mount Vernon.
