Exhale Doubt

Often it seems that there is so much outside of our control, but what we miss are all the things we can change by simply saying no. I love projects, new opportunities, and jumping from one thing to the next. What I miss is that I cannot give them my all, and I begin to miss the point.

In time, when my mind is full, I cannot decipher what I truly wanted for myself. In many ways, this is partly why I could not see how important my own fashion dream was, as so many other things became priorities. Over the past six months, I began editing out big things that once mattered so much.

These were things I had spent years building but were not yielding results worth the time. The impact was there, but I was ultimately funding and investing in other people’s dreams. That was a hard reality to swallow, so I began closing out commitments to catch my breath and reset.

If you are in a moment of uncertainty, begin to edit out what does not serve your deepest calling. The unearthing may be painful, but the land you plant for the next year must be filled with what you long to nourish for a lifetime. What can you clear to store energy for what truly matters?

This is the first Kebaya I had custom made in Bali, Indonesia. I got to travel to the local market pick up my lace, sarong and sash. Then we went to the Kebaya maker and she measured me for the pattern. I then attended a traditional Balinese wedding.
In time I met Gung Eva and she invited me to her village to meet a Balinese artisan who could make the Balinese embroidery I love so much.
I love that Elsa Fitzgerald like me is an island girl since that is where she was born of my imagination in Bali, Indonesia.
Now as I embark on this next era of the fashion house I cannot wait to see what I create as the Royal Dressmaker to the world.
This is a photo I took in Lovina. It is in the Northern region of Bali.
